full name: Centuari Rush
age: 20s
gender: female (apathetic, they/she)
species: vaguely draconic
role: Pilot & DSR
An adventuring pilot who completes odd jobs in between investigating distant distress signals (also known as volunteer rescue or DSR). Though they often try not to show it, they are relatively anxious and very pensive; they daydream often and take full advantage of the long flights in between jobs to overthink and listen to music too loud.
Growing up, they listened to many SOS black box recordings - they were both intensely interested and crushed by the pain and despair people express when they are alone and desperate. When they became a pilot, they took special care to outfit their ship with a boosted distress signal receiver that extends far beyond average ranges. Their odd piloting jobs keep them moving and visiting new places often, and the more dangerous the job, the more dangerous the area - all the better for crossing paths with distress signals.
They possess a natural affinity for learning, whether philosophical or practical. In their travels they take the opportunity to pick up new skills, ideas, or tech wherever they go to stay one step ahead of malicious actors and disaster.
They are weighed down by worries and thoughts quite often, yet seem to always find hope and optimism whenever they are truly challenged, or particularly when someone else needs it. They can rarely bring themselves to turn down a genuine plea and it has been a key motivator in overcoming their fearful nature. Along with the acquisition of an unpredictable power they find themselves traveling increasingly dangerous paths into trouble and the unknown; following signals into turbulent territories, dead zones, and nearly The Dark.
